Oh well, maybe someday companies will realize there are still those of us who would go nuts for complete cartridge copies. It is just a shame to me really as again I was looking forward to portable play. I can still easily play my 360 copies on Xbox One and even on the Series X once that releases.
This type of physical edition is what turns me away from picking up a game for Switch and now that I know this is the case I likely won’t be getting it. I will never understand the lack of care given to many Switch physical releases. Or even cooler, put all 3 games on separate carts! Honestly, spring for a 64 GB cart and due the release proper justice even if it means it has to cost $10 more. With this approach you don’t even get that which makes this physical edition completely useless down the road when Nintendo will inevitably shut down Switch services. I think this may be one of the worst approaches to a compilation like this yet… While other collections don’t typically include all the games on a cart, at least you get one of the full games in a physical format. The information is now displayed on the publisher shop: the compilation will be delivered on a 16 GB cartridge including the first chapter of each game (Bioshock, Bioshock 2 and Bioshock Infinite).
When it was announced that a physical version of the games would also be coming, my excitement grew even higher! But of course, setting my expectations that high was not the best move as it has been revealed that the physical edition of Bioshock: The Collection on Switch will not be made completely available on the cartridge.ĢK has opted to use a 16 GB cartridge to house the opening sequences for each of the 3 included games and will require players to then download an additional 31 GB of data to continue to progress through each title. 2K Games had already clarified this last March, without however indicating the size of the additional download for Bioshock: The Collection. I haven’t played these great games since their original releases on Xbox 360 and was looking forward to having them to play on Nintendo’s hybrid system.
